New in 2009, KEYS is expanding its training programs to include all 9 topics required for providers licensing requirements. Each registered family day care provider is required to complete at least 15 hours of training during the first six months of registration and at least 30 hours of training during each registration period, including the following topics: - Principles of childhood development, including the appropriate supervision of children, meeting the needs of children enrolled in the program with physical or emotional challenges and behavior management and discipline;
- Nutrition and health needs of children;
- Child day care program develpment;
- Safety and security procedures, including communications between parents and staff;
- Business record maintenance and management;
- Child abuse and maltreatment identification and prevention;
- Statutes and regulations pertaining to child day care; and
- Statutes and regulations pertaining to child abuse and maltreatment.
- Education and information on the identification, diagnosis, and prevention of shaken babysyndrome.

EIP Approved Training for Day Care Staff & Teachers |

KEYS is an approved training organization of the Professional Development Program (PDP) and participates in the Educational Incentive Program (EIP) scholarship program. All workshops are approved by New York State's Department of Children and Family Services, along with many other state child care training agencies, and may be used for credit toward annual training requirements. Workshop fees are available for reimbursement through the Educational Incentive Program (EIP) for qualified New York State day care providers. Contact the SUNY EIP program for more information and an application at www.tsg.suny.edu. In addition, elementary school teachers and special needs teachers are also able to receive credit toward their professional development requirements by attending our workshops. |
