KEYS 2008 Music Teacher of the Year Award Nominees Announced!

KEYS has received nominations for 13 outstanding music teachers for this year’s Keep the Beat! Music Teacher of the Year awards presented by KEYS!

The nominees are:

  • Deb Mazurek – Oswego Middle School, Oswego, NY
  • Joanne Kucerak – Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School, Utica, NY
  • Peter Billard – Remsen Central School, Remsen, NY
  • Michael Skovenski – JD George Elementary, Verona, NY
  • A.J. McCall – South Lewis Central School, Turin, NY
  • Jeanette Swiderski – The Piano Lab, Sauquoit, NY
  • Monk Rowe – Hamilton College, Clinton, NY
  • Casey Vanderstouw – Wellsville Central School, Wellsville, NY
  • Bruce Phillips – The Piano Lab, Chadwicks, NY
  • Keith James – Keys Unlimited Music Studio, New Hartford, NY
  • Brandie Collins – Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School, Verona, NY
  • Steven Best – Hamilton College, Clinton, NY
  • Peter Smith – Columbus Elementary School, Utica, NY

The KEYS Keep the Beat Team has selected 4 winners and will be surprising them at an assembly or concert at their school throughout the months of May and June. Check back soon for regular updates!

KEYS is a children's music charity that provides music therapy to children with cancer, and other serious illnesses. The Keep the Beat! Music Teacher of the Year awards is a way to raise awareness of KEYS outreach programs, while honoring those who make a difference in the lives of children each day through music! Each teacher will receive a special plaque, along with gift certificates for music merchandise for their school.
